Point of Beginning uses two different forms of the land survey to question our assumptions around landownership and our understanding of geography as a representation of a surface. The metes and bounds survey uses a point of beginning and directional coordinates to describe boundary. This description is of the lot on which the artist's childhood home was located. The stack of newsprint is equal to the area of that lot and includes the modern day lot and block survey markings.
